A drive about to die might be an issue, but I'd have thought if that were the case I'd be seeing more general errors and issues.

So I'm at somewhat of a loss now as to what the issue could be. Right now it seems to be a random "every so often" glitch that the system just can't "see" the OS even though its looking right at the drive with it on and it runs smoothly and without issue after glancing at the BIOS page. Strangely even if I make no changes in the BIOS menus at all and exit the system then boots as normal. I've tried looking at msconfig which is set to custom startup, but the only things I've got disabled are things like Dropbox - ergo 3rdparty software and nothing to do with the OS or Windows (though honestly I doubt anything here is the issue as it seems to be all of the system after the OS has got itself running). With the problem still persisting I did an update of the BIOS Driver to no avail the issue still persists. My computer recently started going directly into the BIOS page instead of starting up Windows 8.1.Īt first I thought it was somehow looking at the diskdrive and randomly getting confused, however even when changing the boot order manually it still tried the disk first and seemed to miss my SSD drive with the OS installed.Īfter that I physically disconnected the diskdrive so that the only thing in the list was the SSD (it detects my other drives as installed on the system, but they don't appear in the boot list so in theory its not looking at them for the OS). So been getting this error for a few days on and off now and its confusing me.
